Part of Bradley Burt’s dedication and love of the Maid-Rite franchise stems from the Iowa roots. Maid-Rite was founded in Iowa and owned by Iowans, keeping the localized feeling alive while maintaining a large following throughout the entire state (and 14 surrounding states).
With the dedication to Iowa found Bradley and Tania Burt, they have invested into heavy amounts of development in Bradley’s hometown of Waukee, Iowa. Bradley and his siblings Gregory and Cynthia inherited 138 acres of land adjacent to the Interstate Highway 80 interchange, of which construction was approved last year. This land belonged to Bradley Burt’s parents since the 1950’s. The project has been expected to assist a commercial and businesses boom in the western suburbs in the coming years in the Alice’s Road Cooridoor, aka Kettlestone. While the Kettlestone project takes up more than 1,500 acres, much of the Burts land will be used with this project.
The overall goal of this project, funded by the public and the help of the Burt family, is to increase jobs and housing as well as provide recreational and entertainment venues such as bike trails, walking trails, open space networks, storm water systems, and more. It is thought that the population of Waukee will increase dramatically with these new developments—and the quality of life for residents will improve.
As of 2013, the first plans involved getting in brand new and modernized convenience stores close to the highway exits and bringing in office buildings and hotels. Overall, the Burts hope to see a major thoroughfare to help connect the surrounding suburbs.
This project has been in the works for over a decade and the Maid-Rite family is happy to contribute in any way they can. Who knows, with the right amount of support, a new Maid-Rite location just might open up in the Kettlestone area and our very own Bradley and Tania Burt will be just as excited as anyone else. This project will help keep Waukee (and Iowa in general) a progressive place where things are simple and convenient. Bradley has stated how much he loves the close knit proximity of every necessity. People can work and play without long commutes and children can attend great schools close to home. There’s no real need to leave the wonderful cities in Iowa because everything you could ever want or need is close by—especially Maid-Rite!
Construction is still going strong as you can see in the fly-over videos seen here. Continue to show your support and express your concerns to Bradley and Tania Burt to help us keep this company running smoothly with happy employees and customers so we can continue to help the community in any way we can.
